My Client is an investment bank based in London; they are looking for a Project Manager to join their Finance IT team on a contract basis. The Finance IT Project Manager will be managing the delivery of strategic Finance Transformation project. Project Management in accordance to the Finance IT Delivery processes & in line with the company's IT Strategy principles.

Responsibilities:

Project management through the full project life cycle.
*

Production of project plans & tracking of progress against plan.
*

Reporting progress to business stakeholders & management both formally at the project working group & informally as & when required.
*

Tracking the project against budget & reporting any variances against budget. Taking appropriate action to mitigate & minimise any negative budget variances.
*

Ensure that functional requirements and non-functional requirements (ie architectural, infrastructure, security, testing, migration, operational, DR) are effective captured & prioritised.
*

Ensuring appropriate documentation of requirements (eg 'Requirement Story' in JIRA).
*

Ensuring appropriate prioritisation of defects, requirements & scope changes.
*

Defining key deliverables & ensuring estimates account for testing & documentation.
*

Consulting relevant technical & business resources at all stages of the project lifecycle.
*

Ensuring test cases, data & success criteria for system testing have been prepared.
*

Ensuring that the agreed approach to defect management is followed.
*

Managing support for both functional & non-functional testing during system & user acceptance testing.
*

Define quality criteria for production acceptance in agreement with the business.
*

Ensure adequate consideration over Legacy data conversion/migration steps required.
*

Ensure sufficient release plans & methodology (eg continued operation, parallel running & support).
*

Adhere to team duties relating to agile culture, agile development & testing (both within and across teams) & management processes.
*

Build strong, mutually beneficial relationships with business managers & business subject matter experts.

Key skills:

* Demonstrable project management experience through the full software development lifecycle within Finance IT of an investment bank.

* Proven experience delivering Finance solutions.

* Understanding of financial products, especially trade booking, journals, financial reporting & FO, MO, BO controls.

* Hands-on approach to project management with a good awareness of details.

* Experience of working in an agile delivery environment.

* IT background, with a good appreciation of the technical components & their associated challenges the development team may face.

* Well-structured & logical approach to working.

* Ability to work closely with both business & IT staff in a pressured environment.

* Working knowledge of Enterprise Reporting with large volumes of data, across multiple domains.

* Understanding of data mining, shaping & reporting (RDBMS).

* MS Project, Visio & Excel.

Desirable skills:

*

Recent engagement on an Enterprise Reporting/Data Warehouse delivery project.
*

Previous experience: Systems analyst/IT business analyst, ideally in financial services.
*

Functional knowledge of Murex & Oracle Financials.
*

Experience of working with Enterprise Messaging, Mongo, HDFS, Spark, Impala & Kudu, and Tableau.
*

Working knowledge of financial instruments.
