Department Overview

Operational Risk Shared Service

ORSS is responsible for supporting the Global Operational Risk function and provides System Support and Change management for the Operational Risk and Control system (ORAC). ORSS also provides Management Information/Reporting capability for the 2LOD business facing Operational Risk teams and senior management.

Main Function of the job

To support the business as usual operational of the Operational Risk and Control software (ORAC) within Operational Risk Management Framework Programme. The role holder will work within the ORAC Support Team to provide investigative and analytical support for user queries, incidents and administration relating to the Operational Risk system ORAC. The role holder will be responsible for investigating and progressing user queries, requests and incidents, ensuring that all work is carried out in a timely manner to SLA and stakeholders are kept informed of the progress/status throughout

Main duties and responsibilities

* Prepare and execute test scripts to validate system fixes, providing test outcomes and working with Operational Risk IT and system vendor to resolve
* Coordinate, plan and execute regular and ad-hoc data load process to maintain ORAC reference data libraries and bulk data updates
* Check and test the load templates against validation tools and test environments to ensure they meet system and business standards and safeguard the data integrity of the system
* Assist in the investigation, analysis and resolution of system incidents; documenting your findings, comparing against expected system behaviour, determining the business impact and severity and escalating to the ORM IT and system vendor (MSI) for resolution in a timely manner.
* Respond to user queries and escalate complex incidents or system issues in a timely manner
* Work with Operational Risk IT and system vendor (MSI) to identify root causes, including re-creating user steps, demonstrations and providing guidance on how business users operate the system
* Prepare and execute test scripts to validate system fixes, providing test outcomes and working with Operational Risk IT and system vendor to resolve
* Maintain ownership of the incident until closure, including logging in ServiceNow engagement and progress updates to the originator


* Experience working in a technology enabled environment delivering user support. Customer focused and is able to deliver excellent service under tight timeframes in a dynamic environment.
* Excellent computer literacy with general Microsoft Office and knowledge of Microsoft Excel functionality (macros and VBA)
* Proven analytical skills and keen attention to detail.
* Available to work weekends (potentially once a month or every two months) or a few hours after work due to urgent high severity incidents
* Demonstrates the ability to think laterally and approach complex problems from different angles
* Excellent command of the English language with strong written and oral communication skills and can articulate complex and technical ideas in a clear and succinct fashion to a non-technical audience.
* Business Analysis skill set, including experience of diagnosing and triaging system issues


* Education to degree level or equivalent
* IT experience including internet applications, database systems and software packages and is adept at learning new technologies.
