Role overview

A key commerical role within the legal team to oversee the pricing relationship with law firms. Experience of legal pricing / law firm spend is essential to carry out this role.

About Legal

Managing Legal Risk is the fundamental responsibility of the Legal function. Our priorities are focused on Legal working together as one team to directly support Barclays Group priorities.

About External Engagement

The External Engagement Team reports to the Head of Legal Function Management (LFM). The broader LFM team comprises of Change Management, Business Management and Risk, Governance & Control teams.

The External Engagement Team provides commercial support to the Legal function for all activities relating to engagement of law firms. The team builds partnerships with the banks key law firms in order to (i) achieve the most efficient commercial construct and (ii) transform them into solutions providers.

Your Role

Barclays works with 140+ legal suppliers and spends approximately £450M annually on external legal services. The Legal function is accountable for maximising value from our relationships with these law firms and ensuring that appropriate cost, quality and risk controls are in place. The Pricing Manager is responsible for ensuring that both our internal lawyers and our Law Firm partners design and agree the most commercially effective and efficient fee arrangements for all legal matters.

The key purpose of this role is to inform and influence the commercial effectiveness of all legal matters through sharing expertise, analysis, and appropriate financial modelling and MI with relevant stakeholders.

Essential Skills

* Experience of pricing / financial modeling
* Self-starter
* Excellent communication skills

Desirable Skills

* Experience of pricing in a legal environment including familiarity with pricing strategies
