Junior analyst - global investment bank, glasgow

I'm currently recruiting for a Junior Analyst, for a Tier 1 investment Bank Based in Glasgow.

You will sit within the dericaties operations which is a global team with over 1000 people supporting Equity Derivatives, Interest Rate, Credit Derivatives (IRCC), Commodities and Collateral

GOPC have two principal objectives
· Identification, escalation and resolution of inconsistencies in the market risk information (position, market value etc.) between risk systems and the firm's books and records on a daily basis;
·Elimination of the root cause of the exceptions.

The Glasgow GOPC department comprises of 25 people split into 2 groups, Position and Income Control and P&L Control. Each of these teams focuses on specific areas of the control framework for their business thus developing subject matter expertise from both the Operations and Finance perspective.

The successful candidate would ideally be a confident well-rounded methodical person with strong analytical skills. Attention to detail and accuracy is essential. Strong communication skills both oral and written. Task orientated, inquisitive in nature, the successful candidate will be required to ensure production items are delivered on time. Ability to challenge the processes and issues under their ownership. Self-motivated and ability to work consistently and efficiently to achieve end goals

- Knowledge of Equity Products (e.g. Stocks, Swaps, Options etc.)
- Knowledge of Firm Trading, Operations and Finance Systems
- Knowledge of OTC Derivative and Financing Products
- Proficient with Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access

The key areas of this role are;

- Ensuring all controls and processes within the responsibility of the role are completed and continually evolving in line with the requirements of the team and Firm;
- Ensuring that all outputs are produced to a first class standard
- Ensuring deadlines are met and where possible exceeded
- Providing accurate and timely escalations to line manager
- Demonstrate ownership by being accountable for any issues highlighted within their control processes.
- Timely escalation of issues to team management to ensure effective resolution.

- Ensure the accurate and timely reporting of all key client outputs and management reporting;

- Investigate exceptions through interrogation of the Firms risk and financial systems.
- Providing accurate and timely escalations to line manager
- Pro-actively carrying out root cause analysis on break data to identify and then eliminate common break types, while communicating these successes
- Ensuring existing procedures are documented, kept current and complied with through periodic review
