The compliance team oversees the regulated activities that Barclays undertakes. They're responsible for setting out regulatory policies, keeping senior management informed about regulatory issues and monitoring conformance reviews.
The team includes experts in three main disciplines: regulatory compliance (including privacy and large shareholdings); anti-money laundering, sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption; and operations.
Compliance is a critical part of our business: changes to economic conditions and regulatory requirements make our compliance department a busy place. Many of our compliance team members work with senior business leaders, helping to keep Barclays up to date with the latest thinking on control and regulation.
Overall purpose of role:
* For the Data Lake (Huron) project, an experienced Data scientist/Analyst is required to support data analytics build out strategy and the upgrade of the analytic capabilities to generate more insight and help advisory Compliance Officers work with more data to hand.
Key Accountabilities and Skills required:
o The Data Analyst will be responsible for data analysis and produce analytical reports.
o Feeding analysis and briefings into management meetings and to the senior board. Ability to understand the meaning and use of the data, as well as analyze the data quality.
o Perform duties such as collecting, parsing, tagging, analyzing, mapping, managing, and visualizing large sets of data
o Solve business problems, determining patterns and insights within structured and unstructured data, coming up with analytics strategies and solutions.
o Responsible for delivering regular, timely and actionable data insight and providing detailed analysis Manage delivery of day to day activities for assigned workstream aligned to overall project objectives. Primary focus will be on all data related matters.
o Acquire, incorporate, interpret, analyze and explain data acquired for the project deliverables
o Communicate data findings, issue, logic applied
o Develop solutions to improve data usability and manageability
o Prepare documentation which captures data acquired, logic applied (e.g. inclusions, exclusions), methodologies, etc
o Filter and "clean" data to ensure data is consistent, aggregated and usable
o Support programme/project governance structure and meetings, assisting the project manager in the preparation of materials, minutes and actions
o Pro-actively assist project manager and work stream leads in the management and resolution of issues & risks
The desired candidate will have:
o A master's degree in research, or related quantitative discipline with.
o Expertise in statistical analysis environments such Spotfire, relational databases as well as Big Data (Hadoop based) data mining frameworks is required. Key skills and responsibilities would include
* Background in Data Science and NLP
* Ability to effectively communicate Model Training approach and requirements to stakeholders
* Experience in programming languages like Python, Pandas
* Ability to provide guidance to the Tech Lead and Engineers where necessary to achieve expected results.
Stakeholder management and leadership.
o The successful applicant will interact with a wide range of stakeholders in order to build a workflow that meets everybody's requirements, whilst remaining sufficiently simple to be tractable.
o They will also be responsible for managing ongoing changes to the tool, efficiently and in a timely manner.
o Once the workflow has gone into production, the successful applicant will ensure that it operates appropriately- through implementing SLAs with IT and outside solution providers [as appropriate].
o Build strong relationships and rapidly become seen as a trusted advisor from a Lean point of view for business stakeholders - including Team Leaders, Managers and Directors
o Work closely with business leaders to develop, shape and maintain a medium term Lean strategy that works as a key enabler of their business strategies
Decision making and problem solving.
o Analysis of large quantities of complex and diverse business operational data, requiring the ability to make complex situations simple and facilitate clear, fact based decisioning
o Opportunity to work across a broad range of Barclays business units and functions - requiring the ability to create value adding customisation of deployment and capability build strategies on a case by case basis
o Use of clear logical models to support the business in the selection of investment options using facts and perspective to overcome any inherent biases or conflicts of interest
o Creation and development of world class innovative lean tools and materials that maximise the ability of self-consumption whilst ensuring as high a quality and consistency of deployment as possible
Risk and Control: All Barclays colleagues have to ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards
Your Skills and Qualifications will include
o A university degree
o BA / PM experience
o Financial services experience
o Experienced w/ MS Suite (incl Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and SharePoint)
o MI and data Analytics experience (e.g. use of Spotfire, Qlikview tools)
