Data operations assurance analyst

Overall purpose of role: The Data Operations Assurance team facilitate the management of risk within Data Ops via the implementation, embedding and management of the Barclays Operational Risk Framework. The team maintains a robust risk partner relationship within the department and provides guidance and constructive challenge in the self-identification and resolution of operational risk within Data Ops, as well as having responsibility for performing thorough and robust 2nd line Quality Assurance for key Data Ops processes. The team also ensure Data Ops meets all CASS and any regulatory obligations and deadlines.

Key Accountabilities and Skills required:

Key specific accountabilities.

The role holder will be responsible for performing Quality Assurance on critical tasks to the agreed volume & frequency, logging and tracking issues identified, escalating risk issues. This will include oversight of checklists and internal controls; fostering a strong risk management culture within the team.

They may be required to perform Root Cause Analysis in the event of incidents, liaise with the relevant teams and stakeholders and complete reporting tasks. The role holder is expected to take the lead in continually challenging the scope and focus of the Quality Assurance activity to ensure areas of risk are identified and monitored. They may be required to support control and conformance testing for Data Ops processes.

Stakeholder management and leadership.

The right candidate will establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders at times may be required to face off to central teams on points of escalation, Risk initiatives, CASS attestation and Audits.

Decision making and problem solving.

The role holder will be required to analyse the output of all QA activity, to identify themes, trends and areas for improvement across Data Ops processes. They may be required to provide constructive challenge to the process owners and ensure all identified issues and actions are tracked to successful completion.

Risk and Control: All Barclays colleagues have to ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards

Your Skills and Qualifications will include

Professional/technical experience

The candidate will have a proven track record supervising within an operational environment demonstrating a well developed understanding of operational processes and the concept of risk management and control.

The candidate will have a good understanding of client service, operations and processing disciplines.

Exposure to the UK regulatory environment is also desirable, such as awareness of Data Protection.

Academic and professional qualifications

Experience within the financial services industry preferred. The candidate should also demonstrate evidence of ongoing personal development.

Language skills

The role holder will have an excellent command of the English language with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels.

The candidate will have strong interpersonal skills with a positive can do attitude, commitment and a focus on succeeding in a challenging environment. The ability to contribute and challenge within a team to improve performance will be essential along with the ability to communicate with peers and senior members of the team.

High levels of visual concentration are required when dealing with screen based information. The candidate will be highly analytical, logical and will have strong problem solving skills with a proven ability to analyse information, research possible options and provide logical recommendations.
