Overview of Project Portfolio

Operations IT is currently engaged in a series of change initiatives across many disciplines. Large in-flight projects include: an overhaul of operational derivative processing; implementing a new platform to support central clearing of OTC instruments; firm wide adherence to trade reporting regulatory obligations; on-boarding of recent acquisition assets; and platform upgrades to core parts of the architecture. Each of these projects contain elements of both technology change and business process re-engineering alongside significant data capture/cleansing activities.

Overview of role

We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to work in the Operations IT team with knowledge of Asset Management and FX, derivatives and Collateral. The role is within the core analysis team which is responsible for the analysis and delivery of any changes required in our tradeflow architecture as a result of requirements coming from a broad range of key internal stakeholders. In addition the individual will be expected to bring experience in a variety of analytical methods and a demonstrable track record of successful business and technology change.

Successful candidates will ideally have experience analysing (or worked in a team analysing) projects around portfolio accounting, trade processing, derivative operations, operational regulations, performance measurement and client reporting.

Key duties

Provide business analysis support to ensure effective delivery (as measured by time, cost and quality) of agreed projects, covering activities such as:

* Impact assessment of changes
* Analysis and documentation of requirements
* Identification and analysis of solutions
* Design of the implementation of process and organisational changes
* Develop effective relationships across the business, IT and the larger Programme Community
* Interpret business requirements into system requirements
* Where appropriate, act as a bridge between the less technical BAs and the Developers/Technical resource to ensure correct implementation of requirements

Essential Skills

* Strong understanding of the Asset Management industry and in-particular the full trade lifecycle process across all asset classes
* Strong experience of FX, derivatives and Collateral
* Experience in a business analysis role essential including business process change and technology change experience
* Experienced of requirements elicitation through direct interaction with business users and their processes (Interviews, observation and workshops),
* Experience of working with senior business users
* Logical, structured thought processes and good problem solving skills
* Good relationship management skills - able to engage with and gain confidence of others and maximise their contribution to the process
* Strong communication skills - written, pictorial, presentational and verbal at all levels within the organisation
* Able to demonstrate initiative
* Focus on quality

Specific skills

* Knowledge and experience in the following business areas: Order generation, Trading, Order Execution, Compliance, Portfolio Accounting, Asset Servicing, Trade Processing, Data and Pricing, client reporting, performance and Derivative Operations
* Knowledge and experience of standard business process modelling techniques
* Knowledge and experience in defining data extracts and understanding data relationships
* Knowledge of all instrument types and there respective lifecycle events
